Cabanas and what it has to offer

Cabanas is a relaxed resort with a unique feel, it's waterside boardwalk takes you the full length of Cabanas seafront, along the Avenue you will find many bars, restaurants and cafes  where you can watch the boats on the ria. At the top end of the boardwalk you will find the fishermen's huts and at the far end the fort. In the evening Cabanas has many bars and restauranto.


From the Cabanas Boardwalk you can take the small ferry boat over to the Beach on the island, where you will find many waters  sports. 

There are also boat trips on the Ria Formosa, Dolphin or Flamingo watching. 

Cabanas is a great place to watch the sunset from one of the seafront restaurants. you can choose from small cafes serving toastie sandwiches to restaurants serving fish, or steak on the stone, cataplana, pizza or pasta, or just an ice cream with natural flavours from the ice cream parlours

Also a number of gift shops to take home a souvenir of your visit..

Walking the sandy beaches and dunes to the local area , see the local fisherman preparing for the daily work and the clams being collected for the local tables at home and restaurants . 

Tavira

Tavira's main square has the local tourist office, steps leading to one of the many churches  and the Fado Museum which has live performances a few times a day,the crescent shaped seating hosts many musical events throughout the year, celebrating numerous saints and special occasions, off the square along the river is the band stand and the indoor covered market.  

Tavira is well known for it's many churches, take a tour and discover them all. At the castle grounds there are lovely gardens, the monastery and the camera obscura in the old water tower, also to discover are the local artisan shops selling local crafts and bakery products, from here you can catch the local land train on it's trip around town.

Across the Roman Bridge is the old quarter with Bishops Square with it's monument, garden, church, historical buildings undergoing restoration, lined with cafes and restaurants a lovely place to sit and watch the world go by. lovely alley way with restaurants and shops, Along the river there are more restaurants, and local parking.
